About Settle Asia

Most retirement-abroad content is sponsored, one way or another: the site ranking a country is often paid by that country's tourism board, or by the visa agents and relocation services it recommends. That's the specific problem this exists to avoid.

Every ranking on this site comes from one public dataset per dimension (cost, air quality, safety, healthcare, internet), weighted the same way for every country, with the calculation shown in full on the methodology page. Nobody can pay to move up the list.

Affiliate links do exist on country and tool pages (Stay22, Sherpa°, SafetyWing and a few others) and we earn a commission on some of them when marked. They never influence a score or a ranking - the data pipeline that produces those doesn't know they exist.
